The Walking Dead: Destinies could be the title of an upcoming video game involving Robert Kirkman, father of the Walking Dead universe. This development came to light after the discovery of Kirkman filing for a brand-new The Walking Dead trademark under the aforementioned title.

The Walking Dead franchise has produced games in the past that have reached critical acclaim. Robert Kirkman worked with Telltale Games to create The Walking Dead video game series, which resonated with fans due to its deep emotional impact and engaging storytelling. Beyond that, there have also been plenty of other video and mobile game titles that spawned from The Walking Dead brand.

The Walking Dead: Destinies has been filed under the video game/software class so for now it leaves plenty of space to speculate on what this holds for the future. Originally, Kirkman had a multi-year, multi-platform, and multi-title arrangement with Telltale Games that started in 2011 but with Telltale's shutdown and consequent relaunch, the license for The Walking Dead brand has reverted to Kirkman. So now the original creator of the post-apocalyptic universe can do as he pleases with his property, and it very much seems like he's not being idle.

Beyond the potential title and that the nature of the medium will be a video game there is nothing else known currently. No studio has announced the project yet and such processes could take time so when there might be further development on the subject is anyone's guess. And as to the exact nature of the next The Walking Dead video game, what sort of genre it will be or which platforms it might target also remains a mystery for the time being.

Likely there are as many different wishes for the kind of game this should be as there are The Walking Dead fans out there. There are many who would love to return to the Telltale version of the story, but it could also be interesting to see an RPG-style title of a lone protagonist trying to survive in the apocalypse by fighting zombies and making allies. Or maybe it'll be something closer to The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners by focusing on a VR-like experience. Of course, as no official announcement has been made, the game could very well end up scrapped too so all the fans can do for the time being is wait it out and see.
