According to Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious series: "You don't turn your back on family, even when they do." An avalanche of memes parodying Vin Diesel's familial focus in Fast and Furious have sprung up recently, especially within the gaming community. While memes about the series are not new, the ninth installment in the franchise released on June 25 in the US. This new title sparked a wave of memes starring Dom, the fastest and most furious family man in film.

As any online person will have gathered, these memes focus around Dom's unshakeable belief in the power of family. It's no surprise as to why, as the bond between brethren in these films allow simple car mechanics to accomplish nigh-impossible (and visually impressive) car stunts on a regular basis. Vin Diesel appears throughout several gaming community spaces, including Twitter and Reddit. Unsurprisingly, he weaves his way through many games, including Resident Evil and Yakuza - showing the surprising reach the memeable actor has.

Resident Evil

In one meme posted by Reddit user West_Sout, Vin Diesel takes on the role of Resident Evil 7's Jack Baker. In the game, Baker attacks the player, welcoming them into the dark "family" that weaves throughout Resident Evil 7. While Diesel has replaced Baker in this meme, the Resident Evil villain probably has a more sinister idea of family than the Fast and Furious protagonist.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Dom Toretto knows better than anyone that sometimes people "gotta go fast." So, it's no surprise that the memeable protagonist also made his way into the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom. As high-speed chases are a common theme across both franchises, that sector of the gaming community really picking up on Fast and Furious in-jokes like the recent Vin Diesel family memes.

NieR Automata

A particular unexpected installment in the Vin Diesel gaming meme saga was a tweet from the official NieR Twitter account. While there was recent NieR controversy, the series managed to jump on the Vin Diesel trend successfully here. Although Diesel's himself is notably absent from the picture, it's still a valiant effort by an official social media account.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

Reddit user nirnrootsandwich placed Diesel into the fantasy trappings of the Elder Scrolls through a meme to the r/oblivion subreddit. Sitting at nearly a thousand upvotes, this meme parodies an early quest in the fourth Elder Scrolls game, which obviously struck a chord with Redditors that played the game. In the comments section, one user even remarked at how Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious films actually looks like some of the low-poly models in Oblivion, which is perhaps a tad unfair.

Yakuza

Twitter user Majora transplanted Dom Toretto into the Yakuza series through an expertly edited screenshot. In the image, Toretto faces off against Kiryu Kazuma, the series' most commonly recurring protagonist, in an extremely high-quality replication of a screenshot from the game. What's even more impressive is that the image was made using Blender, a free 3D modelling software that allows for some impressive creations.

Tetris

Like the NieR series before it, Tetris also decided to hop in on the Vin Diesel meme bandwagon. The official Twitter account posted a picture of Vin Diesel appreciating a bizarre and archaic product: Family Tetris. It would certainly make for a very different entry in the Fast and Furious series if the Toretto family used Family Tetris instead of high-speed car chases to resolve their interpersonal problems.

Dark Souls

FromSoftware games are famous for a sense of foreboding melancholy. Despite an oppressive atmosphere, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel: the bonfires of Dark Souls. In a similar way, some r/dankvideos users are seeking respite from the cavalcade of Dom Toretto images flooding the gaming space right now. The video offers internet users some reprieve with a funny reference to FromSoftware's iconic series. If gamers are sick of the prevalence of Vin Diesel family memes, they should know there are others who agree with them and also like Dark Souls.

Ace Attorney

While many Vin Diesel gaming memes are funny or unexpected, none are nearly as ambitious as a video from Cyborg_Kettle_Godot on Reddit. The aptly titled "Vin Diesel.mov" is an animation that places Diesel's Toretto right into the action of an Ace Attorney game. It is complete with artwork rendering Vin Diesel as a character in the game. Of course, it also talks about family. Apparently, there is no need for a law degree or "basic understanding of legal procedures" when you have family. Funnily enough, that appears to be true even in the Fast and Furious films.

Although these eight memes from all over the gaming sphere are some of the best, there are a huge array that can be found online, mainly on Reddit and Twitter. With the next installments in the series starting filming in January 2022, it looks like the resurgence of Vin Diesel memes may be here to stay for a few years at least. After the main series ends, the success of spin-off films like Hobbes and Shaw mean that Dom Toretto's meme lifespan could even outlast the character that spawned them.
