What might be considered the world's greatest video game collection consisting of Nintendo, Sega, and much more, is on sale and can be bought by players and collectors. Well, that is if they are able to afford the asking price for this impressive collection that acts as a window into the last 50 years of gaming.

This collector has in their possession almost every console in every generation from the last 50 years in each variation, such as colors, models, and limited editions. According to the French eBay listing, this massive collection amounts to around 2,250 consoles and is listed for €984,000, which is equivalent to nearly one million US dollars. From what can be seen, these consoles are in their original boxes and come with games, statues and other additions.

On top of the eBay listing, a gallery of the collection is available on consolevariations.com, which was originally created by the collector known as Kaori30. Their collection can also be viewed in video form on the collector’s YouTube channel, which showcases their Sega collection and more. This collection might entice fans that want to experience what the last 50 years of gaming has to offer in its entirety, even if just in window shopping form.

According to the Google translation of the French eBay listing, provided by Kotaku, Kaori30 began his collection in the early 90s, which was before video game collecting had become popular. Unfortunately, Kaori30 had actually sold his collection into the year 2000. Nonetheless, they continued collecting until 2011, stopping due to the “lack of time.” The collector notes that they fell back into the trap of collecting in 2018 when visiting Tokyo, and in so doing, reacquired everything they had previously sold. As is the case with any collection, the journey has been long with many winding roads, although one look at the collection presented shows the fruits of their labor. As translated in the eBay listing, the collector believes that these consoles can not be found anymore, even with the finances needed to acquire these collector items, and that the collection might be a good fit for a museum. Products that are not available anywhere sell for extremely high prices on eBay, as the website is not new to these kinds of listings.

Nintendo has considered relaunching classic consoles, and although emulation provides the opportunity to experience older games, an argument can be made for neither being the same experience as using original hardware, not to mention the difficulties with running emulation for newcomers that are not accustomed to how those applications work. Regardless of the asking price, this collection stands as a testament towards what the last 50 years of gaming has offered in the original format presented.
