DC FanDome kicked off with the Wonder Woman 1984 panel, which featured the film's stars and director fielding pre-recorded questions from fans. One in particular needed no introduction: tennis superstar Venus Williams, who had a very on-brand hypothetical situation to pose.

"Who would win in a tennis match," Williams asked Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig, "Wonder Woman or Cheetah?" Wiig, who plays the villainous Cheetah, was sure she'd emerge victorious. Wonder Woman would have a gold racquet to match her armor, which would be too heavy to swing well. Gadot, on the other hand, felt certain Wonder Woman would be champ, though she didn't explain her thinking. A clear example of superhero bias.

Pedro Pascal, who plays Maxwell Lord in WW84, fielded a question about the movie's costumes. Given that the film is set in the 80s, Pascal was worried that the power suit his character wears would make him look foolish. The decade's fashions are pretty cringeworthy, after all, even if they were cool at the time. But Pascal praised costume designer Lindy Hemming for making everything feel period-appropriate while also being flattering and fashionable. Not a small feat, given the 80s' penchant for pastels and shoulder pads.

Chris Pine, already known to Wonder Woman fans as her love interest Steve Trevor, shared that his favorite moment of filming came when production shut down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. It's such an iconic location, and to have it all to themselves to film a movie felt magical, he explained. Wiig joked that she wanted to change her answer for her favorite moment, which was a fight scene where her wig got caught in Gadot's gauntlet, sending both of them into a giggling fit.

Something else that emerged from the panel was that Wonder Woman 1984 likely won't be headed to VOD anytime soon. Director Patty Jenkins lamented the delay, but said that everyone involved in the film really wanted fans to experience it the way it was meant to be seen, in cinemas. Not unexpected, but especially hard to hear after seeing the film's second trailer, which closed out the FanDome panel.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters in October 2020.
