It's a dangerous time period for anything to be trending on Twitter. For example, Ghost of Tsushima began to trend of the social media site after The Last of Us 2 was delayed indefinitely, as many were worried about the PS4 exclsuive getting delayed at some point as well. As such, it's understandable to worry that Sony's upcoming film, Venom 2, was delayed when seeing Venom trend on Twitter. The real reason, however, has little to do with the movie and is far more strange.

A Twitter user posted a video of a moving, slimy mass that appears very much like the Venom symbiote. As seen below, from its general appearance to the way it moves screams the Spider-Man villain. The original post even asks what it is, to which plenty responded with various answers including that it is Venom itself. Many others even point out that this is a meme-worthy trajectory of 2020, with April's catastrophe being Venom.

The more likely answer and the general consensus is that it's a video of bootlace worm (or lineus longissimus). It's a dangerous species that emits a toxin-filled black mucus to paralyze its predators, which appears to be what it is doing in the recording, and it closes resembles Sony's slimy depiction of Venom.

Given that Sony's Venom 2 hasn't seemingly been delayed, as other movies such as Morbius were, it's understandable to see this trend and think it has something to do with the movie. That isn't the case yet anyway, but it sure is eye-catching to see how the bootlace worm resembles the Symbiote.

Sony's Venom 2 seems set for a fall release.
