The newest trailer for the Sony Pictures anti-hero flick, Venom: Let There Be Carnage released on Monday with the first prolonged look at the film's "big bad." It's also the first time that Venom and Eddie Brock have gotten to voice their opinion on the newest symbiote and it's clear "the red one" is a bit jarring for both.

While Venom and Carnage aren't technically part of the MCU, there have been hints that the Sony franchise could eventually be folded into the larger Marvel universe. There are even some rumors that Eddie Brock and his symbiote could show up in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Until those rumors are either confirmed or denied, fans of the character are going to have to get their fix from Let There Be Carnage.

The latest trailer shows what Sony has in store for viewers, with Woody Harrelson taking on the role of one of the most dangerous super-villains to ever appear in Marvel comics. For those who haven't read the comics, Carnage is a symbiote similar to Venom, though he is red, rather than black. That symbiote also bonded with a serial killer named Cletus Kasady, and that partnership means that both personalities are quite happy to kill and maim to a ridiculous degree.

It's clear that the bonding between Harrelson's Kasady and Carnage is intimidating as the trailer even shows that Venom is more than a bit nervous to face off against the new villain. When the Carnage and Venom finally square off, Eddie's symbiote withdraws while proclaiming "oh s***, that's a red one!" Eddie then has to lure his symbiote back into action by promising that he can "eat everyone."

The rest of the trailer also appears to show the juxtaposition between Carnage and Venom. That juxtaposition echoes what is shown in the comics as well. Brock and Venom are often at odds in how they should behave out in the world. Brock wants to be a good person, while the symbiote proclaims "he's a predator" who wants to be out there "snacking on bad guys."

Carnage, on the other hand, wants Venom to let loose and join him in creating as much havoc as possible. This particular conflict looks like it's going to be front and center in the story, while the two characters will have a battle of wills, as well as a physical battle between the two merged entities.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2021.
