Japanese video game company Square Enix made several announcements during the most recent Nintendo Direct and one of them was the surprise launch of its adventure RPG title Various Daylife for the Nintendo Switch. Previously available only for Apple mobile devices, Various Daylife's release for the Switch was announced through a short trailer video shown during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct.

It may seem that many within the gaming community haven't heard of Various Daylife, given that the title was exclusively released for Apple Arcade back in 2019. However, Square Enix seemed to spare no cost with the production of the mobile title back then as it utilized key members from the development team of its other popular titles like Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler to create the game. With the unexpected release of Various Daylife on Switch, the company seems to be fully committed to giving its fanbase access to its non-Final Fantasy titles through one gaming platform or another.

During the Nintendo Direct, Square Enix released a short announcement trailer for Various Daylife. The footage shares snippets of the game's features including expeditions, exploration, and the different characters that the player will meet throughout their journey. The battle system is also highlighted in the announcement trailer, likely reminding fans of the Bravely Default battle system, especially with the 3D animations for the character's various skills. The video also showcased artwork that is reminiscent of Octopath Traveler's visuals, which fans of the RPG will likely appreciate.

According to the YouTube video description, Various Daylife is an "everyday life" action role-playing game, so players should likely expect this kind of gameplay from the title. The adventure RPG became available during the Nintendo Direct event on September 13, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch and Steam for PC gamers. However, Square Enix also announced that Various Daylife will be released for the PlayStation 4 on September 16.

Square Enix talked about other titles during the recent Nintendo Direct such as its rhythm game Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line, the exact release date of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, and even the announcement of Octopath Traveler 2. However, Various Daylife is the only title from the publisher that was released on the same day as the Nintendo Direct, making it quite an interesting surprise. Players can actually enjoy the adventure RPG now while waiting for the rest of the Square Enix games to release in 2022 and 2023.

Various Daylife is available now for the Nintendo Switch and PC, and will launch for PS4 on September 16, 2022.
