Just a couple of days ago, the video game publisher SEGA teased a PC release for the 2010 science fiction action shooter from Platinum Games known as Vanquish, and now the companies have officially confirmed the title's release through Steam. As it happens, fans won't have to wait much longer for the game's release, as it is slated to launch through Valve's digital distribution service on May 25, 2017.
Those who have been clamoring for a PC version of Vanquish ought to be pleased to learn that getting the title through Steam will give them access to features such as an unlocked framerate, unlocked HD resolutions, and "extensive" graphics options. Not to mention, SEGA and Platinum Games have a Digital Deluxe Edition for the game that comes with a soundtrack sample containing five songs, in addition to avatars, a digital art book, and desktop wallpapers.
Fans who already own Bayonetta on Steam or buy it before May 25, will save 25 percent on the pre-order price of Vanquish. Furthermore, everyone who pre-orders the action shooter before its release on Steam will automatically be upgraded to receive the Digital Deluxe Edition.
As far as what's next for SEGA and Platinum Games in the PC realm is anyone's guess, but considering the companies' seeming progression to make PC ports of its joint efforts since Bayonetta, it's quite possible that Anarchy Reigns could be the next title that makes the leap to Steam. Then again, the publisher and developer could move backward and surprise everyone by making the 2009 Wii-exclusive MadWorld available for PC.
Vanquish is available now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and is set to release through Steam on May 25, 2017.
