Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester has offered a small update on the development progress of Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, and says that the game could potentially see a 2023 release date. However, there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the game that continue to be a mystery at this time.

Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 got its start in development several years ago, with Paradox Interactive introducing the sequel to the cult classic original by Troika Games. However, the road since has been extremely bumpy, with the game losing much of its original development team, and the project eventually being transferred away from its original developer entirely. However, Paradox has issued multiple reassurances that the game is still in development, and it seems that is still holding true.

In an interview with Privata Affärer, Paradox Interactive CEO Wester explained that the game is well underway, but the company is now wary of announcing anything too far in advance, given what happened with the game following its initial reveal. However, Wester has shared that Bloodlines 2 will see a launch date announced "reasonably soon" and that 2023 isn't out of the question for it to officially release to the public. However, there's no set window at this time, so fans may not want to get overly excited just yet.

Whether or not Bloodlines 2 is something for fans of the original and the long-running tabletop game to celebrate remains to be seen. The shared footage of the game was limited when it was revealed, and since it has been transferred to a different developer, there's no way to be sure if the existing shared visuals will bear any resemblance to the final product. Perhaps most surprising is that Paradox still hasn't revealed exactly what developer is working on the game.

Given that the original Bloodlines launched way back in 2004, it's fair to say that the fans of the game are willing to wait a bit longer for a sequel. Launching the game in 2024 as a celebration of the original's 20th anniversary isn't out of the question, even if players would prefer the game to launch sooner than that. However, fans have been largely left to wonder if the title will be a worthy successor to the cult classic vampire RPG. The World of Darkness has recently made a comeback in video games, but with several of the titles varying in quality as well as fan and critic reception, it remains to be seen if Bloodlines 2 will elevate the franchise or bring it down.
