Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt has just announced its plans for the game's first major update. The focus of the update is to address the primary concerns of Bloodhunt's players, particularly in regard to the game's controller support along with a variety of bug fixes and tweaks.

Billed as the next evolution of the wildly popular Battle Royale genre, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt was released last month under a free-to-play model. Created by Swedish developer Sharkmob, the game is based on a tabletop RPG of the same name. Unique gameplay sees players wielding vampire powers such as disappearing into a cloud of smoke or feeding on civilian bystanders, which helps Bloodhunt stand out from other games in the genre. Bloodhunt is also appreciated for its high mobility, with players wall-running and quickly jumping from roof-to-roof at supernatural speeds. Matches are frantic and full of action as 45 bloodthirsty vampires seek to murder one another on the streets of Prague.

In a newsletter from Bloodhunt's team, it was announced that the next major update for the game would be entitled the "June Community Update" with the intention of fixing the most pressing issues according to the game's community. Sharkmob has determined the scope of this update and aims to release the patch sometime during the second week of June. The developer cites player feedback as the main drive for this update, as it's been clear that players are experiencing frustration with the game's controller support. Most of the planned changes for the update involve tweaking gamepad sensitivity and responsiveness. As a high-intensity Battle Royale, Bloodhunt requires fast, precise controls unlike the recently released narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong.

Going as far as to say "we failed you," Sharkmob plans to make considerable changes to the response curves for camera movement. The current dynamic response curve makes camera movement feel unpredictable and difficult to control, especially with the added acceleration that makes camera movement even more unwieldy - although that hasn't stopped Bloodhunt PC players' skillful quick scoping. This also relates to the aim assist functionality, creating a more frustrating experience than intended. The dynamic response curve will be replaced with an exponential curve common in many other games. Some balance changes will be made as well, including a reduced Bloodhunted timer, decreased melee lifesteal, and a rebalance for shotguns.

It's a good sign for any game when the developers are intent on listening to player feedback and following through with meaningful changes. With updates to address player concerns being discussed this soon, Sharkmob appears dedicated to delivering a fun and innovative Battle Royale in a genre saturated with competition. With the planned changes to shotguns, players may need to reevaluate the best weapons in Bloodhunt, though this news is exciting regardless.
