Vampire Survivors is a rogue-light game with old-school graphics where survival is the key to success. The longer a player can survive while hordes of enemies slam against their defenses, the better. But 30 minutes into each gameplay, a scary Reaper figure emerges, dealing massive amounts of damage and ending many runs.

At first, it seems like this character is insurmountable, but Red Death is absolutely a character that can be defeated, if players have the correct load out. All they need to do is collect and then upgrade a couple of items to defeat this beefy enemy for the first time.

While there are plenty of way to defeat Death, this one seems to be the easiest way for Vampire Survivor players to defeat it the first time. Here's a breakdown of everything needed to get this load out working properly.

  • Unlock the Hidden Ground.
  • Get the Yellow Sign.
  • Unlock Crimson Shroud and Infinite Corridor.
  • Use these to mitigate Death's damage and survive past 30 minutes.

How to Unlock the Hidden Ground

Approaching the Yellow Sign in The Hidden Ground in Vampire Survivors

First, players will need to unlock the Hidden Ground. This requires that they make it through Moonglow with a non-secret character. These are:

Death will not show up at 30 minutes to kill the player; instead, they will be warped to the Hidden Ground. They are stripped of all their weapons and accessories, and they will only have their character's starting weapon to use. From then on, players will be able to access this hidden stage from the menu until the Yellow Sign has been picked up.

Getting the Yellow Sign in Vampire Survivors

Near the end of the Hidden Ground stage, players can find a Rosary. Once the Rosary has been picked up, move to the right of the screen until the column of stained-glass windows. There, players can find the Yellow Sign. This item unlocks several items for the player.

  • Gold Ring
  • Metaglio Right
  • Metaglio Left
  • Silver Ring

Unlocking Infinite Corridor

The first item players will want to unlock after getting the Yellow Sign is the Infinite Corridor. In order to unlock it, players will need the Clock Lancet, the Silver Ring, and the Gold Ring.

  • Upgrade the Clock Lancet to level 7 (Max Level).
  • Upgrade the Silver Ring to level 9 (Max Level).
  • Upgrade the Gold Ring to level 9 (Max Level).
  • Defeat a high-tier enemy at 10 minutes.
  • Open the chest the high-tier enemy drops to get the Infinite Corridor.

The Infinite Corridor halves the life total of every enemy on the screen, meaning that Death won't stand a chance. But first, players also need to be able to block or mitigate all of Death's damage to stay alive long enough to kill it.

Unlocking the Crimson Shroud

Players will need several items in order to unlock the Crimson Shroud. This amazing defensive weapon is one of the best weapons in Vampire Survivors; players cannot take more than 10 damage from any one hit, meaning that Death's one-shot kill won't be able to touch players before it can be destroyed by the Infinite Corridor's massive attacks. In order to get it, players need:

  • Upgrade the Laurel to level 7 (Max Level).
  • Upgrade the Metaglio Left to level 9 (Max Level).
  • Upgrade the Metaglio Right to level 9 (Max Level).
  • Defeat a high-tier enemy at 10 minutes.
  • Open the chest the high-tier enemy drops, gaining the Crimson Shroud.

Now It's Time to Kill Death

Now that players have unlocked both the Infinite Corridor and the Crimson Shroud, they are ready to take on Death. As long as players have a good loadout overall with these two weapons, they should have no trouble at all getting rid of Death and continuing past 30 minutes of playtime.

Vampire Survivors is available for Mac, Mobile, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
