Last year, Sharkmob revealed it would be working on a battle royale game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, offering a brief, blood-drenched teaser for the multiplayer project. During today's Summer Game Fest Kickoff show, the studio offered a much meatier look at the title, revealing new footage and confirming it'll be called Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt.

The online game will be launching later this year, although eager players will be able to get stuck in early, with a closed alpha set to take place on July 2. Those interested can head over to Bloodhunt.com today to sign up. As for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt's new trailer, it clocks in at just under two minutes and offers an early look at the battle royale, offering a mix of cinematic gameplay and stylish cutscenes.

For the most part, the promo focuses on vampires using supernatural abilities to do battle across the neon-lit, underground nightclubs and darkened rooftops that have become synonymous with the series. It seems customization will be a big part of the experience, with the clip highlighting players changing the appearance and clothing of their vampiric avatar, while there already looks to be tons of weapons, including katanas, pistols, sub-machine guns, and rifles.

Of course, players will mostly rely on their supernatural powers, with the trailer revealing there will be an arsenal of abilities to wield. Players can teleport around the battlefield in a cloud of black mist, use brutal claws, run up buildings, and stun opponents with a flash of blinding light. While it seems many of the powers from Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines will crop up in the title, the trailer hints that there's more for returning fans to discover. Bloodhunt is shaping up to be an interesting new take on the series, pitting the franchise's titular vampires against each other in fast-paced multiplayer action.

It already looks to be a fun companion piece to the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which was delayed indefinitely following some major setbacks earlier this year. The reveal came alongside the announcement that Paradox Interactive was replacing the highly-anticipated sequel's developer, Hardsuit Labs, back in February. Since then, very little has emerged about the project, with fans waiting to hear more about its new direction. However, Bloodlines 2 and Bloodhunt aren't the only Vampire: The Masquerade games in production, with a story-focused title known as Swansong also in development. Players will hear more about the spin-off when it's shown at the Nacon Connect Event next month.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt will launch later this year for PC.
