In an unfortunate turn of events, a professional Valorant team had to forfeit their match because their player got distracted by Honkai: Star Rail. The latest game from HoYoverse has only been out for a week, but fans have already clocked in many hours to complete the story. It seems like the aforementioned Valorant pro had the same idea during their tournament day. Before Honkai: Star Rail was officially released on April 26, the game already garnered massive popularity as it reached over 10 million pre-registrations and surpassed Genshin Impact's opening-day downloads. Just like other HoYoverse titles, Star Rail is an action-adventure with a gacha system where one can pull various playable characters. What sets this game apart from other HoYoverse games though is that it has a turn-based combat system, which many fans have enjoyed playing so far.RELATED: Valorant Pays Tribute to Late Pro Player in Latest UpdateBecause of Honkai: Star Rail's immersive open world and interesting storylines, many players have made sure to dedicate time off their days to progress the story, do side quests, and accomplish daily and weekly missions. But there's a downside to this as players can get addicted to the grind, especially when they want to acquire enough Star Rail Passes to do gacha pulls, and forget about their real-life duties. This was exactly what happened to a Valorant player from Taiwan-based org Ghost CommandoS, who reportedly lost track of time because they were playing Star Rail, so they weren't able to install the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) client in time for their match against S2 Esports. Ghost CommandoS was then forced to forfeit the match, giving S2 Esports the winning point.

Over on Twitter, many users found the situation hilarious, while also saying that they couldn't blame the player for getting sucked into Honkai: Star Rail. Some joked that the player was probably busy "simping" on the game's characters, while also tweeting out GIFs of Himeko and Kafka. Meanwhile, one questioned why the player needed to install the VCT client on their PC again during the regular season. A Valorant pro player answered that Riot Games uses three different clients, which might explain why the Ghost CommandoS player had to reinstall it.

The good news is that Ghost CommandoS was able to play one more match after the forfeit incident. The bad news is that the team lost and placed eighth in the Valorant Challengers League in Taiwan and Hong Kong, while S2 Esports already reached top five. So, the moral lesson here is to not get too distracted with games like Honkai: Star Rail on important tournament days.

Valorant is available on PC. Honkai: Star Rail is available now on iOS, Android, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
