Valorant launched June 2 and is already an impressive success, but Riot Games only has eyes for the future. Today the studio behind the latest popular competitive multiplayer shooter revealed some of its plans for what it's calling Valorant Act 2. Specifically, Riot dropped a brand new trailer for an upcoming Valorant agent. Her name is Killjoy, she debuts with Act 2, and her kit is all but certain to shake up Valorant's meta.

Alongside revealing Killjoy's kit and abilities, Riot dropped a new trailer for the upcoming character. It provides a look at just what Killjoy's abilities look like, as well as the unique gameplay she'll offer compared to other Valorant Agents.

As for Killjoy's Kit, her signature tool is her autonomous turret. It's like the Team Fortress Engineer's turret or Overwatch's Torbjorn turret, in that it fires at enemies as soon as they come into sight. The nearer the enemy is to the turret, the more damage it does. In the trailer, Valorant players can see how the turret is useful for scouting other players out. While they're distracted dealing with the turret, Killjoy steps out and takes care of the enemy.

The rest of Killjoy's kit adds a lot of unique gameplay, too. When players stack Killjoy's Alarm Bots, her Nanoswarm, and her turret together, it can make for an insane spike of damage and chaos. Or they can simply be used to zone enemy Agents, to make them worry about potential setups where there might be none. And as the trailer shows, Killjoy's ultimate ability, which makes enemies not be able to use their guns or abilities, is a gamechanger. No wonder Killjoy is smiling.

Clearly, Killjoy is going to add a new element of fun and drama to Valorant when she arrives. No exact release date is available yet, but she'll be a part of Act 2 when it launches. Expect to hear more soon.

Killjoy's country of origin is Germany, a detail reflected in the keyboard layout on her laptop. She's a techy and a brilliant inventor. Her inventions, including an automated turret, an alarm bot, and more, make up her in-game kit. They even make up some other players' kits, too, as apparently Raze stole one of Killjoy's alarm bots and modified it for his Boom Bot. She also apparently made Brimstone's bracelet, as Killjoy is Brimstone's student/protege.
