The closed beta for Riot Games Valorant has begun, and the game has already begun making waves. Most of all, the game has swept through Twitch like wildfire, with many streamers jumping in either solo or in teams to try out the new game.

Much of the gaming community has been following Valorant, as the idea of a new IP from the company behind League of Legends is enticing and intriguing. The fact that the game is a hero shooter like Overwatch, but in the style of Counter-Strike, has added more fuel to the fire. As of this writing, the game currently has 1.5 million viewers on Twitch, setting it as the number one game by a significant margin.

Many of the players who have been allowed into the closed beta are Twitch streamers, and they have been quick to align themselves with the game. Valorant will have its lore told through character interactions, so a good deal of the game's story is being laid out now.

Streamers are already devising new tricks to increase mobility for characters, and Twitch loot drops for the game are currently live. The mobility tricks are a staple for games like Valorant, and have been since the days of Team Fortress 2, separating casual players from the regulars. Valorant will have skill-based matchmaking even for unranked play, so players may want to learn the tricks of the game now.

Several streamers have criticized Valorant, which is still in its infancy. Dr. Disrespect is known to hold Valorant in scorn, to the point where it has become a meme on his channel, and on again off again Overwatch pro xQc has derided players who have declared that Valorant will now be their primary streaming game.

Because the game is currently populated largely by streamers and pros, it is difficult to determine what the casual scene of the game will look like. Considering the fact that Valorant won't have a ranked mode when it launches, it may not become immediately apparent what separates the best players from the rest, so these streams may paint a picture of what good Valorant gameplay looks like for the moment.

Valorant will release this summer for PC.
