Valorant, Riot's online multiplayer shooter, consistently tops Twitch's most watch games. Despite being in closed beta, Valorant consistently features hundreds of thousands of viewers even in the middle of the night. Except many Twitch streamers are getting frustrated with the situation, accusing Valorant's viewership of being "fake" and artificially inflated.

Twitch streamer Summit1G went off during a live stream recently, saying Valorant's category is the "absolute fakest section on Twitch right now." He says that the proliferation of "24/7" streamers who leave their streams up while AFK is "disgusting."  "It helps burn me out on Valorant just a little bit quicker," says Summit1G. He's since disabled Valorant Closed Beta  drops on his stream.

The key issue is that Riot Games is giving out closed beta keys to those who watch Valorant Twitch streams. Key drops are largely random, though they increase the odds of winning for viewers who watch more Valorant. Streamers are taking advantage of this with 24/7 streams, made with the insinuation that watching Valorant constantly will help more people get keys.

Exactly how popular Valorant actually is on Twitch may be deceptive as players hunt for keys, but don't really care about livestreams. The 24/7 streams also throw off genuine streamers as viewers give up on watching live streams in favor of AFK streams. It's a challenging situation for all parties involved and even Riot likely underestimated what the Twitch key drop system would ultimately become.
