The heart of Valorant’s tactical gameplay lies in the unique abilities its Agents have at their disposal and all of the different ways they can spice up the gunfights. It’s no surprise that fans have searched for whatever information they can get on future additions to the roster, but what is surprising is that the latest Valorant leak comes courtesy of Riot Games itself.

Valorant launched in full last month with eleven Agents, offering players a fairly robust range of abilities from the start. That number is bound to grow sooner or later, and in recent weeks, dataminers have been uncovering files suggesting  game’s next Agent will be named Killjoy. Aside from some audio files and in-game animations, however, fans haven’t been able to find concrete details about how this new Agent will play.

That’s where Riot comes in. It seems that yesterday the developer accidentally launched a new reveal page for the character on the official Valorant website. It’s since been deleted, but screenshots have made their way online, showing off plenty of text seemingly written by Killjoy themselves that offers a glimpse at their personality. “I know you like that thing you do when you yell at the sky, but with me, tactics beat firepower,” reads a line directed towards fellow Agent Brimstone. “So, let me remind you how I’ve already thought of everything.”

What’s more, new gameplay footage has been uncovered that shows off their abilities. From the looks of it, Killjoy will serve as Valorant’s take on the classic FPS turret-user archetype, similar to Torbjorn in Overwatch or the Engineer in Team Fortress 2. According to the Riot page, their abilities consist of:

  • Alarmbot - A deployable drone that tracks down enemies that enter its range, inflicting damage and rendering them “vulnerable to double damage from all sources.”
  • Turret - A deployable turret with a 180-degree cone.
  • Nanoswarm - Killjoy’s signature ability, a grenade that unleashes a swarm of nanobots on nearby enemies.
  • Lockdown - Killjoy’s ultimate, a device that can trap all enemies in its radius for up to eight seconds, though it takes time to charge up and can be destroyed by detained enemies.

The page didn’t provide any hint as to when Killjoy will be officially unveiled, or when they’ll be added to the game. However, given the rather polished-looking gameplay clips, as well as the fact that Riot is planning to add new Agents to Valorant roughly every two months, it’s likely that players will be able to take Killjoy for a spin as soon as the game’s next Act.
