Earlier this year, Sony held a PlayStation State of Play event, where fans were hopeful for a look at games from a variety of publishers, with Square Enix fans in particular on the lookout. One of the more surprising announcements was the reveal of a new game in the Valkyrie Profile series, the action RPG Valkyrie Elysium. With the return of this series, it seems more Valkyrie Profile games will be coming over to modern consoles, as evidenced with the reveal that the first game in the series will be coming to modern PlayStation systems.

The first Valkyrie Profile game was originally released on PlayStation in 1999, with it being a commercial and critical success. This lead to the game getting an enhanced port in 2006, which was released on the PlayStation Portable as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This is the only Valkyrie Profile game that had a re-release, with the other entries only being available on the systems they originally launches on. Fans who are looking to experience its origins will be able to try out the enhanced port when it comes to PS4 and PS5 this September.

After the latest trailer for Valkyrie Elysium revealed its release date, a collector's edition was revealed for the game. This included the typical perks and goodies such as an art book, a soundtrack disc, and an acrylic standee. One thing of note that will be bundled with this collector's edition is a download code for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, which expires in 2024. This PSP port will also be sold separately on PS4 and PS5, releasing on the same date as Elysium, September 28, 2022.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth PS4 PS5

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will retain all the original content and gameplay from the PSP port, just now brought to HD. This release will be worldwide too, as supported by the PlayStation Store's pages listing the same release date across all regions. Unlike Valkyrie Elysium which will be released across PlayStation and PC, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will only be on PS4 and PS5.

Despite being console locked for the time being, this port shows that Square Enix is helping grow the Valkyrie Profile series more. Perhaps if both Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Valkyrie Elysium perform well, fans can see ports of older beloved entries in the franchise such as Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, the prequel that builds upon the first game and has been stuck on the PS2 ever since 2006.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will release on PS4 and PS5 on September 28, 2022.
