Viking survival game Valheim enjoyed a meteoric rise to popularity after being released in Early Access on Steam earlier this year. Since its release, Valheim has also received numerous updates and patches to help keep the game fresh for players.

The newest patch addresses a number of bugs while also adding two new random events to the game. Random events in Valheim are typically hostile occurrences that send groups of enemies attacking the player to keep them on their toes. They include armies of boars, skeletons coming from Valheim's swamps, and Drakes that can apply freezing to the player no matter where they are.

The new patch, Patch 0.154.1 adds one random event that sees players being attacked by wolves that is always active. It can only be activated when players are in the mountain or plains biomes and it lasts two full minutes. The patch's second new random event will only be possible if Valheim's boss Moder has been slain but only when Yagluth is still alive. This random event sends a horde of fullings after the player, including berserkers and shamans. Thankfully, it only has a chance to trigger if the player is in the black forest, meadows, or plains biomes and it also lasts two minutes.

The patch also brings a bevy of bug fixes. Some of the fixes include capes no longer forming bumps after a player jumps as well as fixing the durability of the wolfcape. The patch also fixes an issue that saw longship sound effects not working correctly, ship containers not closing correctly, as well as tweaking sound effects to use less RAM. The patch also makes a couple of tweaks to Valheim's enemies. Serpents will no longer run away from enemies when they run low on health, and Valheim players can now block a Troll's ground slam attack.

While the patch does not bring any big gameplay additions to Valheim, it is great to see the developers continuing to work on the game and improve it for its dedicated community. Valheim's community has done some great things with the game, and it is likely that if the developers continue to support and update the game as they have so far, that community will be just as dedicated and continue to grow. Hopefully, the developers will have news about what else the team has planned as part of Valheim's future for its players soon.
