In Valheim, players will use a variety of items in order to stay alive. Some of these items are crafted from materials found in the world, others are simply found and brought back to base. Certain items have to be bought from a merchant instead, but they all provide some kind of benefit to the player. One such item is the Maypole, but the game isn't very clear about how to get this item or what it does. It's rather rare, so although players might have heard of it before, they'd be forgiven for not knowing too much about it.
The Maypole falls into the category of items that can only be found. There is no way to craft it and there are no merchants that sell the item, so players will instead have to find a place where it can naturally generate. While this isn't too terribly difficult, it has a low spawn rate and is one of the rarer items in Valheim.
Maypoles have a small chance of spawn in the center of any abandoned villages found in the Meadows biome. Unfortunately, they cannot be crafted, moved, interacted with, or used in any way, but they do still provide a benefit. If the player is within the radius of the Maypole, they get a +1 bonus to their comfort level. Many players have noted that this radius seems to be very small, so it may be difficult to build a structure around a Maypole and still get any use out of it.
On the other hand, Maypoles make for great decorations within a base, but this doesn't come without challenges. Since Maypoles can't be moved, players will also have to build their settlement around this one (mostly) cosmetic feature. That may not be worth it to some, so thankfully there is another way around this. For those players that don't mind using cheats in Valheim, it is possible to spawn in and craft Maypoles by using Debug mode.
In order to activate Debug mode, players need to press f5 to open the console. Typing in "imacheater" will enable cheat codes, at which point the player can use them as normal to get a Maypole. Enter the code debugmode and the player should enter Valheim's equivalent of Creative Mode. From here, head to an upgraded workbench and find Maypole in the list of craftable items. The recipe calls for 10 Wood, 4 Dandelion, and 4 Thistle to build while in Debug mode.
