The Plains Biome is currently the fifth and final Biome players will enter in Valheim. Therefore, the Plains Biome is currently the most dangerous Biome in the game. Gamers will need a proper strategy before attempting to survive in the treacherous Plains.

Before progressing to this step, players should try their luck in the other Biomes first. In any new Biome, preparation is key. To survive, players will first need to create a protected base with an enclosed farm.

Base Necessities

There Are Endless Possibilities For Fort Construction In Valheim

Survivors will need an advanced base to have the best chances of success in the Plains. A feasible base will need several features. First, it will need a protective wall to ward off enemies. The higher and more advanced the wall is, the better. Second, players will need an enclosed building for sleeping and storage. The design of the building is not as important, as long is it is enclosed and has enough space for the inhabitants. Third, players will need a protected farm with both flax and barley planted. Barley is used to create flour, giving players far more recipe options. Likewise, flax is used to create linen thread, which is an essential material for crafting a variety of items.

To process the materials and craft armor, players will need a spinning wheel, a forge, and a smelter. Survivors will use the spinning wheel to convert the barley to flour. The smelter will convert iron ore into iron, and the forge will be used to craft weapons. Each of these necessities will take several materials to build, but all are readily available to players in the Biome.

Enemies In The Biome

Across the Biome, there are a number of Fuling camps. The Fuling will often travel in groups, and gamers need to be prepared to engage them. It is always a good idea to have a teammate when exploring the biome. While roaming the map, gamers should have their health and stamina bar visible at all times. The larger Fuling enemies are big and pack a punch, but survivors can use a bow to take them out from range. Large Fuling are slow, and gamers can use their dexterity to avoid attacks. The Shamans pose a bigger threat, as they can shield the other Fuling. Shielded Fuling are not smart enemies to attack, especially in groups.

Gamers also need to be on the lookout for Deathsquitos, which are located throughout the Biome. The enemies have been nerfed, but they can still do considerable damage. Players that spot them from afar can kill them with a few well placed arrows. If a Deathsquito is close, gamers need to use their shield to block and counter attack. The Deathsquitos will attack in a predictable manner, and players should be able to take them out by countering each attack. The Plains will get more dangerous at night, which is important to keep in mind. More enemies will roam the areas outside of each camp, and more Deathsquitos can be spotted.

Armor And Weapons

While there are no specific weapons or armor needed to survive, there are a few items that can be useful. If possible, players should craft needle arrows, which have good pierce and knockback stats. Additionally, the Porcupine mace is a great all around one handed weapon to use against powerful enemies. Gamers will likely want to have a shield to fend off the annoying Deathsquito.

Survivors will be able to craft a Lox cape while in the Plains. The Lox are a new species added to the Biome that provide the hide needed to craft the cape. Players will need the thick cape to survive the cold nights in the Biome. The Lox will also provide premium meat that can be used with the barley to create new recipes.

Crafting And Preparation

Gamers will notice that enemies in the Plains will drop black metal scraps. These scraps can be used to upgrade black metal items. There is now a Blackmetal atgeir, axe, and knife survivors can forge. Players that are entering the Biome should at least have a black metal shield. The next progression in armor is padded armor. Gamers will need to harvest linen and Iron to create each piece of gear. Players should have linen ready for harvest in the base. To craft one of the available capes, players will need to harvest silver as well.
