Valheim has received a patch for various fixes in a February 17 update. Developer Iron Gate has implemented multiple small changes across its open world survival sandbox game Valheim.

Having released only a few weeks ago on February 2, Valheim has become a top seller on Steam. As an Early Access title, Iron Gate is continuing to update and improve the experience for those in the community. With open world elements and multiplayer, there are bound to be some bugs and glitches that crop up. This new update seeks to fix some of the various issues the game is facing.

The full patch lists updates that range from small fixes to changing the way certain aspects work. For those who were having trouble with the Forest Crypt and the Hearth Smoke Building, those should be resolved after this patch. There are also some minor improvements like repairing the Pickables sync and localization fixes. Broken Worlds will no longer load an empty zone, but will just crash and exit instead. Finally, the team has a dedicated server CPU usage fix, which should help with frame rate problems.

There also looks to be a series of changes to support a better user experience while playing Valheim. A collection of these deal with saving, like returning the save system to old-new. Auto-saving is now going to occur every 20 minutes rather than 30 like before. Along with the various console command features, the console "save" function can be used by any player that is added to the admin list. Google Analytics have been disabled, and there is a manual join IP function available for those wanting to enjoy multiplayer.

Overall, the update patch mostly deals with squashing minor problems throughout the game. That said, with such a new game it is important that the developers are staying up to date with improvements. Even with this popularity, Valheim's concurrent player count can quickly drop if a game is not consistent or has too many issues. The other upside is that Iron Gate is resolving these problems quickly, rather than letting them linger for weeks.

Though, any fans hoping for new content will need to continue waiting for the title to receive more updates. While the game's roadmap seems promising, this patch does not follow up on that so far. And any gamers seeking news of a console release of Valheim are going to be in the dark still. In any case, players enjoying the game's current state will be happy to see various improvements for smoothing out the experience.

Valheim is available now on PC.
