With fans already asking if Valheim will be brought to consoles, there's no denying that tons of people are trying the game. Still, no one wants to join a game with friends and not be able to pull their weight. There are some mistakes that are easy to make that players can avoid with a bit of knowledge.

10 Not Gathering Enough Wood

Wood is such a vital resource in the game and too many players get so enamored with exploring the world at first that they don't collect enough. Sure, literally punching trees for wood probably hurts, but if gamers can beat down Mokujin we're positive they can do it in Valheim! Those that don't will find themselves behind on getting vital tools they need early in the game.

9 Eating "Junk Food"

Cooking Food

It's tempting to just eat berries and the like, but in the end, they are nothing more than junk food that players should replace as soon as possible. Better food makes characters regain more health as well as offer better bonuses to players after eating. It's just like real life — healthier food makes for a healthier player.

8 Ignoring Dragon Eggs

Valheim Dragon

Plenty of players see Dragon Eggs and simply assume that because they can't be crafted with, it must be useless. Since they are so heavy, some players even choose to not carry them back to their base. This is a big mistake!

Dragon Eggs can be used to summon a hidden boss in the game. It's absolutely worth collecting the eggs for this purpose as the process to summon the boss isn't too difficult. Don't skip out on bringing them home — it's worth the work.

7 Staying Close To Shore While Sailing

How to craft a raft in Valheim and sail it

Building a raft can make for some awesome exploring options in the game, but a lot of players set sail while putting themselves at significant risk. It can be tempting to stay very close to shore to keep from getting lost, but several enemies can attack rafts if players stay too close. Go out to sea at a safe distance when sailing. It can literally save a life. Well, and afterlife at least.

6 Not Fishing For Food

Hunting can be an excellent way to get good food and farming can be the same, but too many players miss out on fishing for food. This is because tracking down The Trader to buy a fishing pole can be a bit of work. Players need to gather up 350 coins to purchase it, but once they do, it's worth heading there right away to buy a pole and get fishing.

5 Forgetting To Build Walls

House Built Valheim

It's easy to build up a house on a base, but far too many players forget to even build walls. That or players don't use a strong material like Core Wood to try and build up those walls. No one needs monsters storming into their camp, and a good set of walls can save players from a lot of hassle. Just don't forget to install some gates as well!

4 Forgetting To Clear Their Inventory

Inventory Valheim

No one needs an inventory filled up with useless items or with more than they could physically need. As it stands currently there's no way to destroy or totally get rid of items in the game through the menu.

Still, there are a few tricks players can try, which includes dropping items into a body of water. This doesn't seem to make the game lag or cause other issues and keeps the ground from getting cluttered.

3 Not Repairing Tools

Look, this isn't Animal Crossing — tools don't have to just break and be remade. It's wild how many players simply start creating new tools instead of keeping their old ones in good shape. Reduce, reuse, and recycle people! It's not that hard to repair tools and it absolutely saves on resources to do so.

2 Not Having Pets

Wolf Tamed Valheim

Too many players don't realize they can have pets in the game! Boars can make a great source of food, but it's also possible to tame them as well. Players can also tame Wolves if they so choose because Vikings deserve a good howly pupper friend! Keeping pets isn't just handy, it's also just plain fun.

1 Not Trying Console Commands

Epic Base Valheim

Look, it's not easy to learn the game sometimes, and there's no shame in making a game a bit easier if it helps make it more fun. Not to mention, turning on God Mode can just be hilariously fun! These can allow players to do everything from teleport to locations to giving themselves a better mode to take photos in. They are easy to use and players should be sure to try them at least once.
