So if players are looking for a good spot to build their new Valheim masterpiece, they'll want to be sure to have the ingredients for these new building bits at hand.

Darkwood Building Pieces in Valheim

Darkwood, which is made from fine wood, regular wood, and the newest Valheim crafting material tar, is much like regular wood but with a darker look. There are many new pieces that players can build with this new material, giving them loads more freedom to expand their bases and make beautiful creations in the game. The best pieces are:

  • The new double doors (16 Wood, 4 Iron, 2 Tar per door)
  • The corner (2 wood, 1 tar) and window (2 fine wood, 1 tar) decorative pieces with Celtic-style knots
  • The Wolf head and Raven head (10 Fine Wood, 1 Tar for either)

It will take a while to finally get these upgrades if players have started their worlds over for the new update; tar is only found in the Plains, which is extremely dangerous for everyone except those with the best food, weapons, and armor that the game has to offer.

Crystal Walls in Valheim

Previously in Valheim, when players killed a stone golem, there wasn't anything to do with the crystals they dropped. However, now players can finally make glass-style windows from them. They are clear with just a touch of purple coloring and a very slight wobble that gives the glass a beautiful and unique look on any home. These walls are made in 1x1 pieces from just 2 crystals.

Iron Gates and Cages

For that real castle feel in a player's next stone build, Valheim has finally added the necessary iron parts to create a functioning dungeon. Players can make cages, lock up loot, or just use them for fencing or decoration. It'll be great to finally have a place to lock up that one friend that keeps dying.

  • Cage Floor - 2x2 - 2 Iron
  • Cage Wall - 1x1 - 1 Iron

A Valheim Viking Hot Tub

Why would anyone want a hot tub for their vikings in Valheim? Players will need a place to hang out after a long day of fighting greydwarves, of course. Before this, players couldn't take a bath in their violence-filled afterlife, so this is a welcome upgrade to anyone who likes to keep clean or just lay back and watch the sun go down from the comfort of their very own hot tub. The recipe for the hot tub is twenty wood, six tar, eight stone, and ten smelted iron bars.

Valheim is available for PC.
