It's understandable why certain players wouldn't want to play PvP in V Rising. Losing all that progress due to hardcore raiders is devastating for a part-timer. Some players, for this reason, will focus on PvE, teaming up with friends to take down the game's hardest bosses.

Players that go it alone will have certain advantages and disadvantages. They'll be taking on bosses by themselves without anybody to help draw the focus. But they won't have to share resources. And, if they set up their server right, they can play V Rising offline.

How To Play Offline

Setting Up A Server

  • Play > Private Game > LAN Server (Check) > Start New Game

Playing offline starts with making the game private. The other two play options, 'Online Play' and 'Host Dedicated Server' require online connections, as is suggested in the titles. The only hope for offline play, with or without friends, is in the 'Private Game' choice.

If this is not the first time trying to host an offline game, there will naturally be many games suggested when it's time to play. To clear up some memory, find the save file on the old attempt and delete it. It's natural to tweak the server settings a few times before getting it just right.

By clicking the 'LAN Server' on the next screen, the game will default to using the local PC instead of an online server. The file on the computer will effectively be the "server" in the sense that the world and its settings will be stored there.

Although this will likely be used for solo play, it's not impossible to play with friends, so long as those friends are in person and have a means of connecting to the host PC locally. This is perfect for families and households that want to game together without dealing with any other gamers possibly crashing the party.

V Rising is available in Early Access on PC.
