Even though the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles are over a year old at this point, it's still incredibly difficult to find either one in stores. If anyone wants to get one of the new consoles, they either need to get lucky with an online restock or bite the bullet and pay a marked-up price to scalpers. With PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles being such hot commodities, it's incredibly rare to find used versions at GameStop, and so when TikTok user rainbowbabe91's husband saw one at their local store, they jumped at the opportunity to buy it.

In a viral TikTok video that has over 105,000 views and over 10,000 likes at the time of this writing, rainbowbabe91 discussed their experience with buying a used Xbox Series X console from GameStop. According to rainbowbabe91's account, her husband set up the Xbox Series X console and everything seemed fine, but then the next day it was making strange noises. It was then discovered that the used Xbox Series X console allegedly had cockroaches living inside it.

As one might imagine, this greatly upset rainbowbabe91, who has posted a number of updates on the "buggy Xbox" situation on her TikTok page. The latest video provides an update on where the situation is now. Apparently, GameStop offered rainbowbabe91 a gift card and discounted Xbox console to make up for the situation, but she wants GameStop to provide an exterminator. In the latest video, rainbowbabe91 claims that the GameStop district manager is dodging her calls and that she is ready to contact an attorney.

Here is the first video detailing the situation, and readers can click here to see the update. Please note that these videos do contain language that some might find offensive.

Cockroaches getting inside electronics is not a new phenomenon. In fact, there are multiple videos on TikTok itself that show things like computer repair people opening up old laptops, computers, and gaming consoles only to find bugs crawling around inside. Regardless, it's obviously unacceptable for GameStop to sell a console with cockroaches in it to a customer, assuming the events are indeed as rainbowbabe91 has described.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the situation moving forward. If rainbowbabe91 is accurately describing the situation, then one would think that GameStop executives would want to make sure the situation is rectified properly, especially since a huge part of their business is selling used games and consoles. For now, rainbowbabe91 is apparently getting in contact with a lawyer to try to reach an acceptable resolution.
