A new study claims to reveal the state within the US with the most rage quitters and broken controllers. Their data is based on Google searches for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo controllers from each of the 50 states. The states were ranked by the average number of Google searches for new controllers to replace broken ones per 100,000 people.

Rage-quitting, for all its unpleasantness, has been around since the dawn of gaming. Whether a player has been sniped from afar in a close online match or has simply had enough of getting demolished by the same boss over and over, many a gamer lacking anger management skills have taken their frustrations out on their poor expensive controller. Of course, it ultimately creates more problems than it solves, and the gamer will be left angrier than they were before.

According to online casino expert Datslots, who analyzed reams of Google search engine data for each of the big three videogame controller manufacturers, Texas is most likely to be the state with the most rage quitters who are expressing their gaming displeasure by breaking their controllers. On average, Texans ran searches for video game controllers 181,000 times a month. With a state population of over 30 million people, that averages out to 603 searches for new controllers for every 100,000 people.

Texas seems to have a monopoly on rage quitters as the second-place state, Nevada, lags with a monthly average of 18,640 searches representing its population of 3.1 million people. That brings its per-100,000 state occupant average to 587 rage quitters/controllers throwers a month. Though, it would be interesting to see these video game rage-quitting numbers combined with the furious rages from people losing their shirts at Vegas casino tables.

Repping the Midwest is third-place holder Illinois. It seems Midwestern niceties are gently put aside so Illinois gamers can rocket their controllers against a hard surface. Illinois' 12.5 million citizens average 73,290 searches for new controllers every month, which itself averages out to 582 searches per 100,000. Rounding out the list of rage quitters committing wanton acts of violence against their controllers is Georgia with 579 searches per 100,000, California with 577, Utah comes in at a close sixth place with 575, then Colorado at 560, Ohio at 54, Arizona in ninth with 552, and finally Michigan with 541 searches for new controllers every month. As for the states with the most chill gamers with the fewest broken controllers, that distinction goes to Hawaii and Alaska. This might be a case when coming in last place might actually be a good thing.
