A recent release date delay has set up June 6 as one to watch for fans of the horror genre. While June is not traditionally associated with horror, it seems fans will have plenty to look forward to next month.

While June 6 specifically is going to be a strong day for fans of the horror genre, there's a lot to look forward to June in general. As far as video games go, the new Layers of Fear game is scheduled for a vague June 2023 release, while the Stephen King horror movie The Boogeyman is coming to theaters on June 2. Additionally, well-reviewed horror comedy The Blackening will enjoy its wide release on June 16.

Out of all the days in June, though, June 6 is set up to be the biggest day of the month for horror fans.

New Horror Games Releasing on June 6

June 6 will see the launches of both Amnesia: The Bunker and Diablo 4. For the uninitiated, Amnesia: The Bunker is a pure horror game from Frictional Games. It has players exploring a semi-open world filled with unimaginable horrors and mind-bending physics puzzles. The game was originally scheduled to launch in May, but its release date getting pushed back to June 6 is a big reason why it's going to be such a big day for fans of the horror genre. Amnesia's track record speaks for itself, and chances are good that Amnesia: The Bunker will be yet another high-quality entry in the beloved horror series.

Diablo 4 is not a horror game in the sense that it's trying to "scare" people, but there's no denying that the game is drenched in horror elements. Diablo 4 has players killing mass hordes of grotesque monsters and features all kinds of twisted story developments that will send chills down players' spines, even if the game isn't actively trying to be scary. Based on the beta, Diablo 4 seems to embrace horror even more than its predecessors, though fans still don't have the full picture of what all the dark fantasy game will have on offer. Any horror fans wanting to see if Diablo 4 has enough elements of the genre to keep on their radar may want to consider participating in the game's latest beta, which runs until May 14.

Between Amnesia: The Bunker and Diablo 4, horror fans should be kept plenty busy on June 6. Diablo 4 will be available across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, whereas Amnesia: The Bunker is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It should be noted that Amnesia: The Bunker is also a day one Xbox Game Pass game, so horror fans should consider signing up for that if they want to play it without paying full price.
