The Until Dawn remake recently received a rating from the ESRB, suggesting that it is on track to meet its planned 2024 release date. The original Until Dawn was released in 2015 and earned mostly positive reviews from critics. Effectively an interactive horror movie where player choice can determine the fate of the individual characters, Until Dawn was praised for its surprising plot twists, performances, and impressive visuals.
Until Dawn helped developer Supermassive Games reach the next level, establishing the studio as one of the industry's leading horror developers. It was followed by the Rush of Blood VR spin-off and a variety of horror games with similar mechanics, most notably The Dark Pictures anthology series and The Quarry. A direct sequel to Until Dawn has yet to materialize, but in the meantime, horror fans will soon have the chance to experience the original in a fresh light.
