Supermassive's Until Dawn is loved by horror fans everywhere. Despite a slightly cliché setting for the genre — bunch of kids find themselves stuck in a cabin in the mountains overnight, pursued by unknown evil — the characters really make the game. Each of them has a believable and endearing personality, forcing the gamer to be invested in what actually happened to them. As the game revolves around choices that determine their fates, characterization is seriously important.

If they attended Hogwarts in the Harry Potter world, they would find themselves spread across the houses for various reasons. Of course, some depend on how the gamer chooses to play them...

10 Beth & Hannah: Hufflepuff

Beth and Hannah are introduced to the gamer in the prologue and sadly, don't last very long. Chased by a man known as the Stranger and a Wendigo, they tumble to their death from a cliff.

Hannah, from what players see, seems sweet and trusting, and her sister Beth is fiercely loyal to her. To hazard a guess based on a few minutes of screentime, it would seem that these two are 'Puffs — though Beth could easily cross into Ravenclaw with her smart and somewhat bossy attitude.

9 Josh: Gryffindor

It's easy to think of Josh as a Slytherin if you're willing to assume Slytherin = dark. But Slytherin is more nuanced on that, as is every other house, and Josh is pretty nuanced too. Although he's definitely dark and manipulative, he's fuelled by trauma, guilt, and blame. Within himself, he seems bold and reckless, which makes him more of a Gryffindor than anything.

8 Sam: Gryffindor

Sam is one of the boldest characters in the game. Though smart and logical, her courage and loyalty to her friends — like trying to find Mike in the later chapters — is what ultimately makes her a Gryffindor above all else. It helps that Gryffindors tend to be charismatic and Sam quickly became a fan favorite character for many gamers, due to her being so likeable.

7 Emily: Ravenclaw

Emily is another character that most might assume is a Slytherin, because she's... well, mean. But the truth is, Emily is more of a Ravenclaw.

Although she can definitely be manipulative — a classic Slytherin trait — she's more intelligent than anything else, and doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly. She wouldn't be a terrible fit in Slytherin, but her prominent traits are more Ravenclaw than anything else.

6 Mike: Gryffindor

Mike starts out in the game pretty unlikeable. He's arrogant and there's a hint that he's not entirely faithful to his girlfriend. But ultimately, he becomes one of the heroes. Passionate, brave, and selfless when it comes to chasing Jessica even though there's a terrifying monster dragging her away, he exemplifies some of the really awesome traits of Gryffindor.

5 Matt: Hufflepuff

Matt is Emily's boyfriend and seems loyal to her; a little too loyal. Although the player can choose to make him more antagonistic and suspicious of her relationship with Mike, he's ultimately too nice to her a lot of the time.

His patience and kindness make him a Hufflepuff, and these aren't bad traits — he just shows too much of them.

4 Jessica: Gryffindor

Jessica is introduced at the start as someone who might be a little vain and too self-assured — but players quickly learn there is more to her than meets the eye, making her a complex individual. Ultimately, she comes out of her shell and seems to be a very brave lady who's battling some serious insecurities. She deserves Gryffindor.

3 Chris: Gryffindor (If You Make The Right Choices)

Chris is a Gryffindor... depending on how you play.

In the game, at one point, he is given the choice to shoot himself or Ashley. You could choose to make him a Slytherin by aiming the gun at Ashley, because they're resourceful and can be a little selfish — or you could make him the ultimate self-sacrificing Gryffindor by choosing to shoot himself.

And really, looking at Ashley sobbing across the table, how could you not turn the gun on yourself?

2 Ashley: Gryffindor... Or Slytherin

When Chris is choosing who to shoot, Ashley is begging Chris to shoot her, to let her save him. It's heart-breaking. This attitude totally makes her a Gryffindor.

But if Chris does choose to shoot her, she seems to swing Slytherin by later letting him get slaughtered by a Wendigo. Cold, since she was the one insisting that she wanted to sacrifice herself and save him, but maybe she had a change of heart. Or maybe she was just saying it to be nice.

Does this make her a Slytherin all along?

1 The Stranger: Gryffindor

The Stranger lives on the mountain hunting the Wendigo, and he couldn't be anything but Gryffindor. He goes out of his way to try and take down the monsters and saves the main characters on more than one occasion, ultimately dying for him. His hard-headed courage gets him killed in the end, but you can't help but admire the guy for that sheer daring.
