Deep Learning Super Sampling, or DLSS, is pretty much the norm for gaming these days, especially for AAA titles with huge budgets. With Nvidia promising DLSS to more PC games earlier this year, there seems to be less excuse for the big studios to not make their upcoming releases compatible with the upscaling technology. Now, it looks as though CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting the latest drivers for the upscaling software, even though it seems to be an unofficial patch.

Uploading the file to Nexusmods recently, user noxide1234 has made it possible for Cyberpunk 2077 fans to update the game on PC to version 2.3.2 of Nvidia's DLSS. This latest patch was released last Monday, although a report does say that the one here is an unofficial patch which was lifted directly from Nvidia's SDK, or software development kit. At the time of writing, no one has filed any bugs against the update, and those posting in the comments on the mod page seem generally pleased with it so far, although one person did notice some "ghosting." As this is labelled as an unofficial file, it is recommended that players back up their game before installing version 2.3.2.

For those who are unaware, DLSS is an image upscaling software from graphics card manufacturers Nvidia, with the first iteration of it being launched in September 2018. In a nutshell, it upscales lower resolution graphics to higher resolution ones. The idea being that the quality of this upscaling is comparable to that of a game running higher resolution graphics natively. Modern games such as last year's Crysis Remastered have been given the DLSS treatment, with more titles following suit.

It's also being implemented in some slightly older games. Recently, it was announced that both Shadow of the Tomb Raider and 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider would be getting the latest DLSS drivers years after being released. This assumes that "latest" means version 2.3.2 that's being made available for Cyberpunk. According to the report, version 2.3.2 comes with some overall improvements, especially for "mid-range systems."

Since its controversial release at the end of last year, Cyberpunk 2077 has been treated to numerous bug fixes and patches. While much of what's been rolled out is intended to bring the quality of the game up to the standard it should have been at on launch day, some of it does include some general visual tweaks. The user making DLSS 2.3.2 available for download on Nexusmods is just one other way that the game is continuing to, hopefully, see significant improvements.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
