Since its surprise release in February of 2019, Apex Legends has been known for its frenetic engagements. With so many Legends, each with unique abilities, the game is often filled with exciting and unexpected moments. With this in mind, it’s no wonder players continue to make new highlights on the battlefield. Recently, one player had a highlight-worthy experience after encountering a Crypto and his Surveillance Drone. However, the moment was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as -Kingsman- shared a video of an unfortunate encounter in Apex Legends. The clip happened on the Olympus map near the Phase Runners above Hammond Labs as the player was in the middle of a skirmish. Playing as Loba, the player rounded the corner of one of the buildings at the top of the hill. After spotting an enemy Crypto in the distance, the player decided to pull out an Arc Star. What happened next was both unexpected and unlucky.

The Reddit user threw the grenade on a perfect line, hoping to stick the combatant. However, things didn't go according to plan. Just as the electrified shuriken was about to hit the target, a Drone appeared in front of the enemy. In a strange turn of events, the Arc Star attached to the Drone instead of the opponent. To make matters worse, the enemy Crypto couriered the grenade over to -Kingsman-, where it exploded. Stunned both literally and figuratively by what had transpired, they were quickly eliminated by the enemy squad in Apex Legends.

This unfortunate yet hilarious video captured by -Kingsman- caught the attention of many members of the Apex Legends community on Reddit. With over 4,200 upvotes in less than a day, many were shocked by the encounter. In addition, gamers were impressed with the quick thinking from the enemy Crypto to pilot the Drone towards the player. Furthermore, some players joked that this Crypto Arc Star strategy was possibly the new meta. Others reminisced about how players used to place Rampart turrets on Crypto Drones. They could then fly around the map, mowing enemies down from above.

It’s fun to see players continue to post clips of unbelievable plays pulled off in the battle royale. Recently, a dataminer uncovered game files suggesting that larger lobbies might be coming to Apex Legends in the future. If this is the case, it means even more opportunities for talented players to make some insane highlights. Time will tell what crazy plays are seen next in the battle royale moving forward.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
