Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, provides a small update on the game's follow-up Deltarune. Its second chapter is currently in the works following its first chapter releasing over two years ago.

Undertale quickly became a cult classic indie game after being crowdfunded in significant excess. Toby Fox's goal for the Kickstarter was initially $5,000, but resulting in donations by tenfold of $51,124 thanks to over 2,300 supporters. Though Undertale was in development for about 32 months, Deltarune's development time has been somewhat longer, but seemingly because Fox aims to make it a bigger game than its predecessor. Dissimilar to UndertaleDeltarune is currently being developed episodically, though Fox's original plan was to release the full game in one package once it's complete.

After his last update in September where Fox posted some Deltarune screenshots and said that its second chapter was about 80% finished, the developer commented on an old post to say that "Chapter 2's development is going well!" He continues, "Not sure what else to say, but I feel positive about it."

Deltarune's first chapter released back in 2018 for free, but there's currently no release date or window for the rest of the game, though it was that that Chapter 2 would be done before the end of 2020. Also, it's unclear how many chapters Deltarune will encompass, but several more chapters might mean it could be years before Undertale fans finally get the fully-released long-awaited follow-up. Hopefully, however, this small update serves as a teaser for Deltarune's second chapter release soon to come.

Critics' responses to Deltarune's first chapter were mostly positive, however, it naturally garnered many comparisons to Undertale, most of which were favorable but some felt that it was just "more of the same" elements seen in Undertale.

Deltarune is currently in development.
