Undead Nightmare Filled With 'Red Dead Redemption' DLC & More

Undead Nightmare Gets Retail Release, All Red Dead DLC

Howdy, Ranters! If you've been looking for a reason to lasso up all of the downloadable content for this year's epic western Red Dead Redemption, then we've got the perfect excuse for you. Today, Rockstar Games announced Undead Nightmare, a $30 standalone disc featuring all of the DLC and Red Dead's Free Roam multiplayer mode that will be shipping soon. And the best part? Red Dead Redemption is not required to enjoy all the content that will be found on the disc.

The disc includes Liars And Cheats, Legends And Killers, Outlaws To The End, "all the Multiplayer Free Roam modes released to date," and of course, the highly anticipated Undead Nightmare pack. Game Rant had the opportunity to check out Nightmare at this year's New York Comic Con and had a lot of fun fighting off hordes of various zombies with the pack's new weapons.

While Red Dead's Free Roam mode and the DLC that's currently available focus on multiplayer, Undead Nightmare will lean toward being a single player experience. Rockstar is promising gamers new weapons, a new setting, new enemies (including zombie animals!), and new gameplay mechanics. With Halloween right around the corner, launching the Undead Nightmare DLC package on October 26th is nothing short of perfect timing. We can only hope that the standalone disc launches within a similar timeframe as its digitally distributed counterpart.

Bundling a game's DLC and selling it at a brick and mortar store isn't unfamiliar territory for Rockstar, as they've done it with The Lost And The Damned and The Ballad Of Gay Tony for their Episodes Of Liberty City disc release.  In addition to the mini-campaigns and multiplayer modes, Episodes didn't require gamers to own a copy of the latest Grand Theft Auto, either.

How do you feel about standalone DLC bundles? Will you snag a copy when "Undead Nightmare" hits retailers, or do you prefer to own your supplemental material in digital form? Is selling a standalone package the perfect way to get gamers back into a game that they might've traded in or given to a friend? You know what to do, share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!

Undead Nightmare currently doesn't have any solid launch details, as Rockstar has stated it's "coming soon" and will presumably be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
