Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was officially launched last week, where it quickly garnered acclaim from critics and fans alike. To celebrate the reception of Naughty Dog's latest effort, Sony tweeted out a short clip highlighting some of the action found in the game, as well as some selected quotes from critics. However, eagle-eyed gamers noted that the wording used by Sony in the tweet is far more interesting than the highlights, as it suggests that the Uncharted franchise is not quite done just yet.

In Sony's tweet about Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the caption interestingly features the sentence "the award-winning series continues" as opposed to "the award-winning series concludes," indicating that the franchise could still continue. This could simply be a choice of wording made by Sony, which also occurred for the marketing for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End when the tagline "one last time" was changed in favor of emphasizing the game as being "the closing chapter for Nathan Drake's story."

It is worth noting that Naughty Dog has not yet officially stated that the Uncharted series is finished, with The Lost Legacy creative director and writer Shaun Escayg stating a couple of months ago that he didn't consider the game as "the end" of the franchise.

It would be a surprise if Naughty Dog indeed concluded the Uncharted franchise given how The Lost Legacy has topped sales charts in its first week, which suggests that there is still considerable fan demand for more games. Having said that, don't expect a new title any time soon, as Naughty Dog is currently busy working on a game from another one of its critically-acclaimed franchises - The Last of Us.

Ever since it was announced during PlayStation Experience 2016, The Last of Us: Part 2 has been one of the most highly-anticipated titles among gamers, though it is not yet known when the game will be released. Should the Uncharted franchise continue to live on, the next game will almost certainly come after The Last of Us: Part 2 is released, which is still in the early stages of development.

It remains to be seen whether the will be another Uncharted game at some point in the future, especially with Escayg stating that Naughty Dog intends to move on from the franchise in favor of other projects, thus The Lost Legacy may be the last game fans will have for quite some time to come.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is available now for PlayStation 4.
