Seventeen million Uncharted fans can’t be wrong! Sony has announced that cumulative sales for Nathan Drake’s digital adventures, including all three PlayStation 3 games and Vita’s Uncharted: Golden Abyss, have reached 17.3 million units worldwide. As if in commemoration of the occasion, the wraps have been taken off the Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition.

Speaking of Uncharted fans, one has gone above and beyond the call of duty by using cinemas and gameplay footage to create “films” based on Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception — check them out in their entirety right here!

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune debuted in November of 2007, just one year after the PlayStation 3 released in North America. As it had with the Crash Bandicoot games on PSOne, Naughty Dog delivered a graphical marvel — Uncharted instantly became the best looking game available on PS3. Still, as impressive as the game’s audio/visual assault undeniably was, it was the cast of characters that really stood out: Sully, Elena, and especially the man himself, Nathan Drake, strikingly well acted by Nolan North. Since that time, Uncharted has become the PlayStation 3’s signature franchise.

As of last December, the Uncharted games had accrued sales of roughly 13 million units, but the one two punch of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (released November 1, 2011) and Uncharted: Golden Abyss (released February 22, 2012) has helped push that number much higher, to 17.3 million units total.

If, somehow, you’ve managed to miss out on Drake’s Deception so far, the Game of the Year Edition should be on the top of your “must play” list. Much like the bundle of awesome that is the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition, the Uncharted 3 GOTY is packed with DLC that initially cost extra — at least $25 extra, in fact. That’s right, the full compliment of material made available to Fortune Hunters Club members will be included with the Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition.

Take a look at the box art and a list of the included content below.

Sony has yet to announce a release date for the Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition. Perhaps its launch will coincide with that rumored post-Fortune Hunters Club DLC Naughty Dog has been talking about. Keep your eyes on Game Rant for the latest news as it develops.
