The following article contains spoilers for Uncharted.

As is the trend now with many films, even those outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the newly released Uncharted movie has two post-credits scenes. The purpose of the scenes was clear, as they set up a potential sequel and more adventures for the main protagonists. Director Ruben Fleischer broke down the main scene, which features Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, and reiterated the friendship between the two.

In the Uncharted post-credits scene, Tom Holland's Drake seems to be making a deal with Pilou Asbæk’s Gage, who isn’t a recognizable character. When the character double crosses him, Mark Wahlberg's Sullivan, a.k.a Sully, bursts into the room and saves his partner. The scene acts as fan service for many reasons, but Fleischer wanted to confirm to fans that Nathan Drake and Sully's partnership will carry forward.

The Uncharted movie only sets up the beginning of Drake and Sully's journey, and they clearly have a long way to go. Fleischer, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, wanted to let fans know that the movie “wasn't the end of the Nate and Sully story, and that they would carry on their friendship — their partnership — on further adventures.” In the games, the duo go on further treasure hunts and even find Drake's older brother, Sam. While they reference the character in the film, he only appears momentarily in the mid-credits scene and is seen holed up in a prison cell.

When the first trailer for the Uncharted movie was released, fans of the games were upset for many reasons. One of the main ones was the fact that Sully did not sport a mustache. However, the post-credits scene in the film pays homage to the character in the games and Fleischer revealed that it was “a real nod to the fans who have certain expectations of what Victor Sullivan looks like.” He is also seen wearing Sully's traditional Hawaiian shirt, which had become synonymous with the character over the course of the four Uncharted games, and even finds a cigar. The only thing missing now is the white hair, and perhaps fans could see that, too, if a sequel were to be made.

Another interesting aspect in the post-credits scene is the mention of a character named Roman. It is most likely a reference to Gabriel Roman, the primary antagonist of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It seems like the post-credits scene connects the film to the first game in the Uncharted franchise, and almost confirms that the movie was in fact just setting up the tale of Drake and Sully.

Uncharted is showing in theaters.
