As one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, there hasn’t been much mystery surrounding plans to port the faux adventurer Nathan Drake and his past exploits to Sony’s PlayStation 4 console. Yes, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection may have been seen a mile away by many conscious gamers, but that doesn’t take away from the appeal of the compilation in anyway shape or form.

Knowing the the gig was up, however, Sony has opted to show off what was likely going to be an E3 2015 reveal ahead of time. Affectively addressing the elephant in the room, the company has confirmed that Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be arriving on PS4 later this year.

The compilation of what equates to a trifecta of ports features all three of Drake’s adventures that took place on the PlayStation 3, updated to run on Sony’s newest, substantially popular, and powerful home console. Having the opportunity to once again trek through the vistas found throughout the series, or even experience them for the first time ever, is a very tantalizing deal for the cost a new release, and it’s one gamers likely won’t pass up.

Featuring all three major installments of the Uncharted franchise is a move that will undoubtedly resonate with consumers, just as the PlayStation 4 port of The Last of Us did. With an October 9th release date currently set for the game, the wait really isn’t that much longer either, which means that fans will be gathering treasure and scaling immense set pieces on no time at all.

The port is being handled by Bluepoint Games, which is known for doing a great job on porting existing games, so it’s safe to say that the series is in good hands at the Austin, Texas studio. Furthermore, those that lay down a preorder for the trilogy prior to its release will be given “single player skins of iconic Drake outfits” as well as some exclusive weapons in the form of a Golden AK-47 and Golden 92FS.

Last, but certainly not least, those that pickup Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will receive access to the Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End beta once it’s active, presumably allowing users to go toe-to-toe with one another in multiplayer. Not a bad deal at all.
