PlayStation announces the PC release date for its highly anticipated Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection. PC gamers may not be able to play the first three games in the Uncharted series just yet, but PlayStation is moving forward with bringing Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to the platform anyway. Something is often better than nothing, especially when it's two of PlayStation's most critically acclaimed exclusives bundled into a single Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection.

Naughty Dog has handed off development of the ports to Iron Galaxy, a team well known for its past port work on major games. Iron Galaxy is putting in the work to ensure the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection meets the expectations of PC gamers. As such, it's including optimization features including support for up to 4K resolution, ultra-wide monitor support, controller customization options, a reworked user interface, and adjustable options for lighting, textures, reflections, and more.

The biggest announcement in PlayStation's latest revelations for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves is, of course, when PC gamers will be able to play it. Start the countdown, because it's just over a month until Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves arrives on October 19. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves can also be pre-purchased now on both Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99, which will unlock an in-game Sully's Seaplane glider for Fortnite.

To help PC gamers evaluate how Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves will perform on their hardware, PlayStation has also released its recommended specs for different performance levels. Recommended hardware for 30FPS at 1080p resolution includes an Intel i7-4770/AMD Ryzen 5 1500X CPU and an Nvidia GTX 1060/AMD RX 4570 with 16GB of RAM. Recommended hardware for 60FPS at 4K resolution includes an Intel i9-9900k/AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and an Nvidia RTX 3080/AMD RX 6800. All recommendations include 126GB of storage.

The hope for PC gamers is that Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves will be successful enough on PC that it will drive up demand for the original trilogy, the Nathan Drake Collection. Having the full Uncharted franchise on PC would be a dream come true for many. There's always the possibility that the Nathan Drake Collection is being updated for PS5 like The Last of Us Part 1, though, which could mean an Uncharted trilogy port is very far off.

Whether the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection is successful on PC or not could also help push Naughty Dog toward making a new game in the series, too. Nathan Drake's story may be over, but there are any number of ways the action-adventure game series could continue. Here's hoping that whatever project Naughty Dog is working on next, it comes to PC faster than ever.
