Uncharted is one of Naughty Dog's biggest modern franchises, so it's not exactly a surprise to see the studio working on the upcoming Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. What may be a surprise, however, is that Naughty Dog itself is only working on the PS5 version of this collection, with the PC version being made by a different studio entirely.

The new collection will be bringing a remastered version of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and the spin-off game The Lost Legacy to PS5 and PC, which chronicle the current end of Nathan Drake's story. While Naughty Dog will be making the game's PS5 version, the PC port will be handled by Iron Galaxy, which previously managed the PC ports for games like Destiny, Overwatch, and Skyrim.

Iron Galaxy's library of past works may be reassuring to fans who wanted to see Naughty Dog handle both ports, but either way, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection seems to be an absolute steal. The updated graphics promise to make every desperate rope swing, swordfight, and ancient puzzle even more action-packed than ever. It appears that Naughty Dog is hoping that this collection will be a good entry point for new fans who may have been lured in by Naughty Dog's other works--a plan that might work, if the trailer shown off during the PlayStation Showcase and posted to the official PlayStation YouTube channel is anything to go by.

In Uncharted 4, Nathan Drake sets off on one last adventure in search of Captain Avery’s long-lost treasure--a journey that will take him from the jungles of Madagascar to the pirate colony of Libertalia, which or may not have existed in real life. It's both a thrilling send-off to the mainline Uncharted series and a great opportunity for new players to seek their fortune, especially with the Uncharted prequel movie in the works. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, meanwhile, stars Chloe Frazer, professional thief, amateur treasure hunter, and Drake's old flame as she ventures to India’s Western Ghats in her transition from frenemy to the hero of her own story.

As of writing, fans appear to be generally in favor of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, though some have pointed out that Naughty Dog could have packed in the rest of the series as one big collection. One YouTube commenter requested a full remaster of the series with modern graphics, while another wished that Sony was giving out free upgrades to people who already own the full series. As of writing, it doesn't seem like Uncharted fans have many complaints about Naughty Dog outsourcing the PC port.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection comes to PS5 in early 2022, with the PC version coming shortly after.
