E3 2015: ‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ Gameplay Demo, Playable Vehicles

By | 1 year ago

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was teased a long time ago, but gamers don’t know very many details about the game just yet. It’s been confirmed that it will be Nathan Drake’s last adventure, but the teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much more than cryptic hints and a treasure map. Thanks to Sony’s E3 presentation, fans of the adventure franchise finally have some more concrete details.

During the presentation, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End represented one of the PS4’s crucial exclusive titles that will help the console compete with the Xbox One in the coming year. Although most of Sony’s press conference highlighted games that won’t arrive until after the holidays, hopefully the hype for these major titles will keep fans happy until 2016.

The E3 demo showcases the first gameplay we’ve seen from Uncharted 4 and, after an initial glitch, we had the chance to see Drake back in action. We get to hear some typical Nathan/Sully banter as the duo charge headfirst into a gun fight. The opening combat scene highlights gun and melee combat as Nathan and Sully fight through a small army of soldiers.

Once the pair make it through the first wave of soldiers the gameplay demo turns to a showcase of some vehicular combat and a long chase scene. Drake races down the cliffs in a Jeep as a heavily-armed van attempts to cut his trip short. As fans of the franchise might expect, the witty dialogue continues non-stop throughout the chase. Although some of the lines are corny, the jokes actually got quite a few laughs from the crowd.

The demo wraps up with Drake attempting an insane Indiana Jones-style grappling hook escape from a moving car and cuts to the title screen just before the hero is about to crash through a wooden barrier. The footage doesn’t offer many details about the game’s plot, but does confirm that the first PS4 iteration of the Uncharted franchise will stay true to the series’ trademark style.

Unfortunately, no more details were offered about the game’s release window.
