Video game developer Naughty Dog officially launches the free Survival expansion today for its latest action-adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Following the reveals from yesterday's live stream, Naughty Dog is now prepared to implement all of the changes it has been working on the for the past month with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's latest free DLC. With this being the case, fans who boot up the game ought to be able to apply all of the new features found within a 3.7 GB patch for the action-adventure game's rather sizeable Survival update sometime today.

Although the full patch notes have yet to drop for the game's Survival DLC, Naughty Dog should have them totally fleshed out after the update has officially been released. That said, though, players should expect to find the new co-op and horde-like Survival mode, as well as two new maps, five more weapons, and new items for regular multiplayer to be added into Uncharted 4 when the patch is live.

As far as Uncharted 4's Survival mode is concerned, players need to be prepared to progress through 50 waves of enemies, which is broken up into 10 separate stages, with each containing five waves. According to Naughty Dog, each stage should take fans about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, but of course, that all depends on the proficiency of one's skills.

Interestingly enough, Uncharted 4's Survival mode won't just be about clearing out the enemies, as there will also be five different types of objectives. These are Survival (wipe out all bad guys), Siege (kill enemies from a specific spot on the map), Treasure Race (collect treasure located all around the stage), Marked Man (kill a particular target), and Boss Waves (eliminate pirate ghosts).

As far as the Boss Waves in Uncharted 4's Survival mode is concerned, they will begin with an introductory cinematic that sets up the arrival of the particular villain. These bosses are taken from the game's story campaign, including figures like Henry Avery. Apparently, all of the pirates will be able to use mystical abilities with each having specific tactic to use in combat.

Uncharted 4's newest update also adds two new maps (Prison and Trainwreck) and a King of the Hill mode for multiplayer. Not to mention, Naughty Dog has incorporated 10 more levels to progress through, new weapons, "biker" and "warrior" skins, as well as price drops for some chests.

Taking all of Uncharted 4's freshest wares into account, it's safe to say that fans will be happy to say the least, especially since it will all be added as free DLC. Nevertheless, once players have finished all that can be accomplished within the Survival update, they are surely going to look to future expansions to keep them satisfied. Thankfully, Naughty Dog has plenty of plans for post-launch content all the way through spring 2017, so here's to hoping we get to learn more about Uncharted 4's single-player DLC soon.
