In a new blog post, Naughty Dog reveals a brand new game mode coming to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End multiplayer which makes significant changes to the familiar gameplay.

Though it launched earlier this year, Naughty Dog has released a number of updates to its popular Uncharted 4: A Thief's End multiplayer modes. In addition to new maps like the classic Village map from Uncharted 2, players have seen plenty of new skins, weapons, game modes and the Shield of Asgard mystical arrive to enhance the experience. For fans who many not enjoy the chaos that can erupt due to having sidekicks, mysticals, and other features in a multiplayer match, Naughty Dog revealed that a solution is on the way.

A new stripped down mode known as Classic aims to bring the competitive action back to the way things used to be in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. For players, this means that the majority of the new features that have been added in this entry such as the ability to call in sidekicks or being able to use supernatural powers through mysticals are gone. Not only that, the in-game store has been removed, players no longer enter a downed state, and the radar has also been disabled. Map awareness is now a key element to this mode as players will also have to utilize weapon pick ups, considering that heavy weapons now spawn around each map.

Interested players can actually go hands on with the mode right now, as Naughty Dog is making it available throughout the weekend in a newly created beta playlist. Unfortunately, the developer has not revealed when this back to basics mode will become a permanent addition to the game, though with an downloadable content roadmap having been previously made accessible, fans can certainly speculate. For now, the studio is only interested in player feedback to help make the new mode even better once it is ready to be added permanently.

While the new multiplayer additions are exciting, Uncharted 4 has been in the news this week for a completely different reason as well. With the launch of the PlayStation 4 Pro coming next week, Naughty Dog has prepared the game by releasing a new patch which essentially adds support for the upgraded hardware  while also adding in HDR and upgraded graphics and resolution. Uncharted 4 joins an already extensive list of games ready to take advantage of the new horsepower next week.
