Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has finally made its big debut and it’s looking to take as much of the spotlight away from some of 2011’s other big titles. While the trailer certainly did a great job of building hype, Naughty Dog thought they would let their fans take a look the behind the scenes and hear them talk about their hopes and fears when it came time to move past Among Thieves. Just released is a video that shows not only Naughty Dog’s studios but also features Nolan North in motion capture action.

In the video, members of the Naughty Dog development team talk about the praise that Uncharted 2 received and how grateful they are for the numerous Game of the Year nods they received. Uncharted 2 was certainly a fantastic game and deserved all of its accolades, but now that some time has passed it was time for the team to look towards the next entry in the series and where they wanted to take Nathan Drake.

Now that the VGAs have taken the proverbial cat out of the bag, Naughty Dog decided to really let loose with what they have in store for Drake. A few details regarding the game’s storyline and new features have been shared with the public but nothing as certainly been as interesting as a look at famed voice actor Nolan North in action.

Check out North running around in the mo-cap suit in the video below:

With their own motion capture studio at their disposal, Naughty Dog is able to give gamers a look at what goes into creating the engaging cutscenes in Uncharted. Using actual voice actors Richard McGonagle and Nolan North as the motion capture actors looks to not only allow the two actors to play around, but it should make the scenes in the game feel much more authentic. North and McGonagle even go on to talk about their experience with Uncharted and how it has affected their lives. For North it certainly has made him the closest thing to a household name in the video game industry.

It’s always tough coming back from a critically and financially lauded game and making that first step towards a sequel. With gamers expecting either a comparable or better title from Naughty Dog, the team knew what they had in store for them and they took to the ground running on Drake’s Deception. Opting instead for a slower paced trailer, Naughty Dog hoped to get players interests piqued, but held off on the big guns for later.

To Naughty Dog’s credit, they kept Uncharted 3’s existence under wraps for longer than a lot of other developers are able to. There were rumors here and there that the game was titled World of Deceit, and everyone knew it was coming, but the reveal itself took many gamers by surprise. Fans everywhere are hoping right along with Naughty Dog that the series continues to push forward and that Drake’s Deception can top Among Thieves.

Now that Drake’s Deception's new trailer is out there, what are your thoughts on Naughty Dog’s approach to the third game? Is there anything better than seeing Nolan North in action?
