The Uncharted series has easily become one of Sony's biggest franchises in the past generation. With three critically acclaimed games in the PS3 library, and a fourth on the Vita, it's safe to say that the series isn't going anywhere any time soon. But just in case there were players out there who wanted to jump in on the series, but are having a hard time tracking down the older titles - the first two games in the Uncharted series will be available for download on PSN starting next month.

Starting June 26th, both the original Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will be up for digital download via the PSN. No prices have been announced yet, but it can be safely presumed that they will be at a discounted price point from the titles' original cost. In addition to this, all of the DLC for Uncharted 2 will be included with the download upon its release date.

For those who already have these games and are feeling ripped off, Sony has done something else that may be worth your attention. Right now, all of the DLC for Uncharted 2 can be downloaded for free. So if there are any packs that a player doesn't have added to their game, this would be the time to get them. Sony has mentioned, however, that this will only last until the two Uncharted games are released on PSN. What will happen after is unknown, but it's highly recommended that gamers take advantage of this deal while they can.

This is definitely a smart move on Sony's part. The sales numbers for Uncharted 3 alone are proof enough that series popularity among the fans is still incredibly strong. However, this could also be seen as a calculated attempt on Sony's part to grow their fan base - in the wake of news that the lead designer of the series had left Naughty Dog. As a result, there's some question about what the future holds for the franchise.

Will you be downloading these titles on June 26th? What do you think the future holds for the Uncharted series?

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will both be available on PSN for download on June 26th.
