New Character Details From 'UnchainBlades Rexx' Emerge

UnchainBlades ReXX Characters Details

Following hot on the heels of the announcement of UnchainBlades ReXX, new details about the game's cast of characters were featured in the latest issue of Famitsu.

It is common for Japanese developers to give their RPGs a central theme, usually expressed by a phrase, and for UnchainBlades ReXX that theme is "know your true strength." Players should have a better idea of how this theme will be expressed in the game by finding out more about the diverse nature of the game's central characters.

Crunea is the goddess of the world the characters inhabit, also responsible for creating the world's monsters. Fang, who was the strongest Dragon King and also will be the main protagonist of the story, angers the goddess and is turned into a human as punishment.

The game will take Fang on a journey to restore his powers, and given the central theme of the game, it's likely that at some point he ends up finding the "true strength" inside of him while journeying with his companions. It should also be noted that Crunea is known for granting wishes to those that pass her trials, which has all the makings of a major game mechanic for UnchainBlades.

Lapis will be an "older sister" character to Fang, which could mean a few things. She could literally be an older sibling, or it could be referring to a nickname common in Japanese culture for older women who are looked up to. Whatever the case, Lapis will be a force to be reckoned with, possessing the ability to turn people to stone.

Marie is a girl that finds it quite difficult expressing emotions and gives off the feeling that she is devoid of emotion altogether. Silvy is a shinigami, which means death god. A tough title, but in reality she is quite kind and gentle.

Niko is tomboyish, with nine-tails strikingly similar to the Pokemon of the same name. Hector and Tiana round out the cast as royal figures who have returned as a part of their own journey. Clearly, Fang won't be alone, and players will have a wide selection of characters to identify with.

At first glance, the descriptions of the characters seem to be familiar types seen in Japanese RPGs, but with the team that is developing the game, this cast stands a serious chance of breaking the mold.

Excited to play as any of these characters and go on their journey with them? Possibly looking for more range out of the characters, or is it the gameplay that will get you interested in this title from across the Pacific?
