New details have emerged regarding the highly anticipated second season of Netflix's superhero show, The Umbrella Academy.
The streaming platform has released 12 images showcasing the Hargreeves' adapting to their new lives having failed to stop the apocalypse during The Umbrella Academy's dramatic Season 1 finale. This new adventure will see the siblings joined by a few new characters including Texan housewife Sissy, a divorcee looking to once again embrace post-marriage life, Lila, and Raymond, who is described as a natural-born leader and devoted husband. Notably, there is also an image of three men lurking in the darkness, ready to give the show's time-travelling heroes some major problems.
The show's synopsis explains how Five attempted to warn his family that using his powers to escape from Vanya's 2019 apocalypse was dangerous before highlighting how right he was. Their time jump has subsequently scattered the team across time in Dallas, Texas over a three year period starting in 1960. Some of the Hargreeves have been stuck for years, and have event built new lives for themselves believing they were the only ones to have survived. Five is the last of the team to arrive, right in the middle of a nuclear doomsday -- one caused by the group's disruption of the timeline.
They are now tasked with reuniting, discovering how to stop the doomsday, and returning to their correct timeline to stop the other apocalypse, all while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins.
The Netflix show is an adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá's comic book series, originally released back in 2007. Season 1 was so popular upon release, with Netflix reporting that 45 million households had watched the show upon release, it didn't take long for Netflix to commission a follow-up.
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from July 31, 2020.
