It was rumored that Capcom would be giving fans a little bit of a showstopper at SDCC this year, with the potential unveiling of an upgrade to the recently released Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. While Capcom had refused to speak on any of the “rumors or speculations” earlier this week, it seemed pretty clear that it wouldn’t be long before the veil was lifted.
As it turns out, today would be that day, with Capcom announcing Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, a revamp of its predecessor complete with some shiny new upgrades: eight new stages, and twelve new characters for players to twirl their sticks at. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is taking many of its cues from fighting behemoth Street Fighter, which got a similar treatment recently with Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.
If that isn’t enough to get you fighters geared up for battle, then these next sets of video may do the trick. Dropping a few official videos that display eight of the new combatants, these may be enough to keep you satisfied until a little more information is released later in the week.
Strider vs. Ghost Rider:
Hawkeye Vs. Firebrand:
Though Capcom will be outlining all of the changes and updates made to the game later this week, most fans will want to take a peek at the updated roster. With both the Marvel side and the Capcom side gaining six new combatants (each no doubt with plenty of alternate costumes), the tiers will get jostled and the tournament players will have all sorts of things to play with.
The upcoming players are as follows:
- Frank West
- Phoenix Wright
- Ghost Rider
- Dr Strange
- Rocket Raccoon
- Iron Fist
Though the Ultimate update may be arriving a bit too close to the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for comfort, nothing keeps a fighting game alive and vibrant like new characters and stages.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom is set to release this November for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
