Two new trailers have arrived for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that focus on new fighters Frank West (from the Capcom side of things) and Rocket Raccoon (a Marvel Comics protagonist). Regardless of how gamers might feel about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s unveiling, these two new characters make a strong case for picking up this sequel.

Despite being a photographer by trade, Frank is able to bring in many of the handy tools — some found and some crafted — featured in Dead Rising in order to bring a sizeable amount of pain. But, as it turns out, his camera might be his most useful weapon, since it appears to stun enemies every time it flashes.

Add on top of that combos that pay homage to some of Dead Rising’s more iconic moments, like placing a Servbot helmet on enemies, and gamers have a fitting adaptation of Frank West’s skill set. Check him out for yourself in the trailer below:

Next up is perhaps one of the weirdest fighters to join the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fold: Rocket Raccoon. Filling out that longstanding desire for Mega Man, Rocket Raccoon delivers a punishing amount of weapon and trap-based attacks that should keep any opponent on their toes. In fact, Rocket Raccoon might have one of the more devastating arsenals of attacks seen in Marvel vs. Capcom yet.

For those who might be unfamiliar, Rocket Raccoon was introduced to Marvel Comics back in 1976, and features a more sci-fi inclination than your traditional Marvel heroes. With a Guardians of the Galaxy film reportedly in the works, more audiences might be introduced to Rocket Raccoon in the coming years.

While Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 might be looked at as a shameless cash grab on the part of Capcom it does deliver some new fighting mechanics, new (and oft-requested) characters, new modes, and a greater overall design. If it means we finally get to play as Frank West, and with a lower price point, we might just have to check it out.

What do you think of the skill sets and abilities of Frank West and Rocket Raccoon? Will you be purchasing Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 just for the new characters?

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 releases November 15, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and February 22, 2012 for the PlayStation Vita.
