Defend the Earth or conquer it with Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's all new single and multiplayer, team-based, Heroes & Heralds Mode - which will be free post-launch DLC.

The brand-new mode, revealed by Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 producer Ryota Niitsuma at this year's New York Comic-Con, allows players to collect ability cards to strengthen characters and unlock new moves. This will definitely offer exciting new dynamics to the MVC world and bring the franchise to new heights!

Heroes & Heralds Mode will turn Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 into something unlike any game in the franchise before it. With the new powers and abilities, characters can become invisible, invincible to projectiles, as well as receive enhanced jumps, armor, and more! As stated, gamers can play as a hero of the Earth and defend it from the impeding threat - or play as one of Galactus' heralds (doused in all silver like the Silver Surfer).

The mode gives new legs to the franchise. It's hard to imagine how many different combinations of characters, ability cards, and strategies have been cooked up to defend against all of these different abilities. With UMVC3's new spectator mode, there are bound to be tons of awesome bouts to be seen.

Seen previously this month, Capcom has released a Nova and Phoenix Wright character trailer introducing the fan-favorites to the MVC franchise. There has also been introductory trailers for Vergil and Iron Fist as well as Nemesis and Doctor Strange. The full roster can be viewed at the game's reveal from San Diego Comic-Con.

Capcom has also been gracious enough to deliver some great screengrabs, so players can get a better look at the different menu screens and some of the features of Heroes & Herald Mode. Check out the gallery at the top of the page.

An incredibly awesome new cinematic trailer was also shown at this year's NYCC. It bares resemblence to the first cinematic trailer released last month, but this new trailer has a grander scale - with the new characters intertwined and Galactus looming overhead at the end. It just reeks of sheer MVC goodness.

I love the inclusion of Phoenix Wright fighting Deadpool and Ryu about go toe-to-toe with Nova in that trailer. My favorite part of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was the endless combination of characters you could arrange and the addition of these 12-new fighters can only mean more late nights trying out which team is the best.

Will you defend the Earth or join Galactus? I'm excited to see how many different abilities will be obtainable and how well they will work against each character. If you could add an ability that is off the wall or something revolutionary to a fighter what ability would you add?

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will be available for the low introductory price of $39.99 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 15 of this year with all new ultimate box cover art. The PS Vita version will be ready and available at hardware launch next year.
